- I have a Polish Arabian named Monty. He's 11 years old. Umm... I have been riding since...well, forever. My aunt first stuck me on a horse before I could walk and she taught me to gallop when I was 7.... it was scary. But, now it's my favorite! I first started taking formal lesson in December of 2005. I got Monty on February (I had to click on my time thing on my computer to figure out how to spell that! hehe) 18th 2006. I'm a Junior, and my favorite class is German. And my least favorite class is P.E. (especially on fitness days) we need to have horse back riding as a course. It's very much so physical. Stupid people who think it's just sitting on their backs. Nope. I sweat when we do jumping. It's hard work!!! I have 2 dogs, an American Cocker Spaniel named Lambo (yes, after the Green Bay Packer's field) I call him Peep though. A Cockapoo named Jake Goose, or Jake for short. ( He's Lambo's wing man) I call him Kitty. I'm 16 years old...Sorry this stuff is so spread out... My parents are divorced and both of them got remarried. I live full time with my dad and that's where Jake and Lambo live. My mom and stepdad live in Fargo, North Dakota and they have a Harlequin Great Dane named Rufus who's 1 year old and is up to my thigh, and a chocolate lab, golden retriever mix who's young, and black. She also has two kitties that are brothers. So cute! I play the violin and have been since the 4th grade. I'm not very good though. Originally I wanted to learn western riding and do barrel racing. But then I discovered jumping, and now that's my passion. I'm not to happy with the "wierd" jumps, like the wall, the coop, etc. Monty just doesn't like those... I'm pretty good with verticals, cross-rails, and sorta oxers (thanks to Anna!). I've gotten more confident so I can jump bare back, which is easier because I can feel when he speeds up, when he gathers himself to go over and when he's descending a lot easier. I do want to show eventually but....he's afraid of trailers so we'll have to see about that....That's it for now I guess...
4/22/08-We got him in the trailer!!! :D I might be able to take him to a show in 2 weeks if he continues to improve!
4/24/08-We got him to stand in the trailer for a few seconds. He still seems wary of the door closing. While Mrs. R and I were talking by the trailer with all of the doors open and he just walks right in... on his own, no coaxing from us at all!!
7/22/08- That show I was going to take him to got cancelled, but now there's one in a few weeks that I could take him to. He now loads in the trailer with no problems, I just point and tell him to load up. I can shut the door and we can cruise around and he's all good. :D
8/3/08- I took Monty to our first show today. He loaded perfectly....but then once we got there, everything was SOOO scary. XD That's an Arab for you. He was really hyper and excitable when we first went to warm up, but once I started to work him he calmed right down. Thank goodness. We only showed in English Pleasure for 14-18 riders. We didn't place, but the show was also a QH show... A lady who boards at our barn took us because our instructor was on vacation. She owns and showed Arabs and said that if we had showed in an A circuit Arab show, we would have atleast placed! :D I was soo darn happy when she told me that. She knows things about the Arab circuit. After we were done showing, he was fine again. It's like he knows when we're done. XD
8/10/08- We went to our second show today. He loaded great again. Same story with him being excitable at the beginning. But this time, we did 2 jumping classes. He did okay, but of course, those flower boxes are horse-eaeters. XD So I talked him down and over them and after the first 2 jumps, he was fine. Then we did the other class which was the first class but backwards. Those jumps are sooo much different from the back.... Or so Monty says anyway, we jumped the first one fine, but that second one. WOAH! Scary. lolz. After that, it was all good. We placed 4th in both of our classes so...YAY MONTY!! :D
On the way home, we stopped for gas so I opened the door up by his head so he could get some air, he was such a goofball. Stuck his head out, looked around, stuck his head back in, grabbed hay, head back out, chewed, repeat several times until I shut the door. XD What a goober.

Life as a working student
When ever those days of rain and snow come along, everyone in my school is all happy. "Yay! Maybe we'll have a snow day!" they say to each other. While they are all talking about the plans they will do on their snow day, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, I "get" to go work.. I'm like the mailman...most of the time. A little something about Monty
Well, he's a Polish Arabian, his birthday is on March 1st. He was born in....1997....I think. He's bay. I use him for jumping, patterns (during lessons) and for fun. He's my first horse and it was pretty cool that I got my favorite breed of horse as my first one. He's not registered because when he was young he cracked his hoof and they (I guess) didn't want to register an imperfect horse? I don't know the reason. violin in fourth grade 2 but I cut the class 2 be in band.Now I play clarinet,Basson,paino & piccolo.If u like those wierd jumps u should think bout xc.They have alot of wierd jumps.my horse was so freaked out by the coup,brick wall and the roll top.But now he love them
