- Mkay. So I guess I'll give you my whole riding story and all that jazz. So my first time actually "riding" (not stupid pony rides or any of that crap) was as a private barn called Lake View Farms. Or stable. Same thing. It was a summer camp thing I did, where I mostly learned about tack, caring for a horse, etc. I only did w/t.I met some amazing horses. Mahsato, an ottb from Canada, Temmer, Star, and a few others. I was planning on getting lessons there, but it never worked out.
After that, I went to a summer camp at Hopkins Spring Farm. I learned LOTS there and had a great time. It was the first time I jumped:) I learned alot of other stuff about horses. Ya know, all the basics. The first horse I rode there was Charlie Brown, who I loved. He was such a sweetie. But he kinda took off with me one day...:P. I then rode Doree ,or however you spell her name, who was a Fjord mare. She was kinda..insane. I rode Holly after that and we just clicked. I learned the posting trot at HSF and I had my first jump on Holly. I'll never forget all those amazing horses:)
Bored yet? Don't worry. It gets better. SO after I left HSF, I went to Columbia Horse Center. That's when I really ever felt close to a horse. The first horse I rode there was Mindy. She was a sweet mare. One day I rode Maverick, and we just clicked. I absolutely fell in love with him. I was at CHC for about a year, but I didn't move along much. There I did ALOT of trotting, trot poles, x-rails, and some canter. I just wasn't improving much at all, and I was ready to move on. I left CHC, but I'll never forget the amazing horses there, and especially Maverick. He taught me lots and I love him to death. I wish I could have said goodbye before I left, but I never got the chance.
So where did I go next? My friend Blair told me about the barn she rode at. Windsor Stables. It sounded like a really nice place, so I went there and started riding with Blair. So this is when I REALLY started moving along. The first horse, or pony, I rode there was Amelia. She was great and I really liked Jill (my trainer). I had a feeling I would improve so much. When I came there I only knew w/t a little bit of canter, and small x-rails and verticals. I'd never even cantered a jump (on purpose, anyway :P). I rode Amelia alot when I first went there, and she taught me jumping from the canter, how to canter (well), leads, getting your horse on the bit, and a whole lot more. I also started riding Brownie, an amazing little pony :) He taught me ALOTT. Like I mean alot. But sadly he coliced and had to be put down on 3/3/09. I'll never forget that lil guy ♥. I jumped higher and higher over time, and now I jump around 2'9. I went to my first show with Amelia and we did great. We got 2 1sts, 6th, and reserve champion. We went to a dressage show, got 1st, 3rd, and reserve champion. Our most recent show we got 2 6ths, 2nd, and 5th. I love that pony so much. I'm starting to outgrow her, so I've been riding Star, an Arab x mare, every once in a while. I really love her. And the funny thing is, Star was at Lake View when I was there, but her owner sold her to someone at Windsor after I left Lake View. Small world, eh? So...yup. That's pretty much it. Exciting I know. Yeah...thanks to you people that read this far. ily. :)

Lesson 6/22/09
Oh, jeez. I'm blogging. Normally I'm waaaay too lazy to blog. But yeah. Now to the lesson.
So yesterday I rode Star in my lesson, and she was great. Of course we did our warm up, trotting, transitions, circles, getting the horses to bend, and all that. Then we did some dressage stuff. We worked on the shoulder-in, which Star seemed to have a problem with. We also did the leg yeild. At first our leg yeild was messy and just...blech, but it got better.
