About Me:
Hi! I'm a 15 year old Sophomore at Amador Valley High School, located in pleasant Pleasanton, California. I love horses and I own two. My favorite is Mac, my 16.2hh AQHA dark bay gelding. I love him to death! He's so behaved, I can ride him any style and do practically anything with him! I mainly ride him Western, but I do some English flat work with him. Maybe I'd jump him if he wasn't so sluggish or I wasn't so terrified of the idea of jumping. lol. The other horse is my sister's called Bella. She's a 14.2hh AQHA sorrel mare and acts more like a hot Arabian than a quarter horse. XD I HATE riding her, but my sister enjoys it so go figure. Well see ya later!

About Me

I'm Kaitlin, a 15 year old sophomore at Amador Valley High School in pleasant Pleasanton, California. :D

I own a handsome 16.2hh 13 year old dark bay AQHA gelding named Macs Shadow Jet. Everyone calls him Mac, but occasionally you'll hear Big Mac, Macintosh, or Macaroni. He is a perfect angel and I ride him in Western Pleasure, Western Riding, Western Equitation, Horsemanship, Trail, English Pleasure, English Equitation, Hunter Under Saddle, Hunt Seat Equitation, with little bits of jumping and dressage here and there. I show him all of the above, minus jumping and dressage, and also in Showmanship and Halter. He is a little upset at shows, but he usually gets over it and begins to have fun. :D

My sister owns a 14.2hh 7 year old sorrel AQHA mare named Leter Boom. We call her Bella. She has superior Reining bloodlines, so she was trained in reining, but her stop wasn't very big so we bought her to convert her to Western Pleasure. We've come a long way and we plan to breed her this year and get a nice little colt out of her. If my sister decides that she wants to pick up reining (like I do) we'll retrain Bella for reining. I'm looking forward to that. :D

Outside of horses I play tennis. I used to play soccer, but issues with my team and constant injuries (I was ending up in the hospital from countless concussions and back injuries) forced me to quit. I do sometimes pick up a ball and start juggling... but I also am a Photoshop fanatic. :D I love editing photos and cell shading for pictures online. I post some of my work online at DeviantART.

So that's pretty much me in a nutshell. Well there's probably loads more, but this is enough for now. :D

Home from Kentucky

Well I spent the last week in Kentucky and wow. Just wow. Very different from California. I loved seeing Churchill Downs and the Kentucky Horse Park, not to mention Shelbyville, the Saddlebred capital of the world. I went on loads of tours and saw so many different horses and people. It was so amazing! Plus I toured University of Louisville and met with their IHSA Western coach. With the riding experience I have so far, I'm in the Open division. So now I have to work really hard on my reining an… Continue

I'm Baaacccckkkk!....

Yay! My long absence from the internet is over! Whew! Never knew how much I missed surfing my favorite horse sites. lol So, a lot has happened at the barn. First off, I've formed a show team with my new friends there. It's currently a Western team, but we're hoping to get some English riders to join and some gymkhana riders too. So their are 5 of us and we're gonna go all out. Jackets, tees, organized events, you name we thought it. It'll be sooo cool! We're all pumped. Me, my sister, Paige and… Continue

67% done with moving in...

Well I'm at my new house and I've gotten back into the swing of riding everyday again. :D Mac and I went on a trail ride with my sister and 2 girls from the new barn. It was really fun, but Mac was so nervous the whole time. He spooked every once in awhile, but then Fox, my friend's horse, ran up this hill and Mac was like, "Oh no he didn't!" and charged up after him. Of course he's gotta throw in a couple of bucks to let me know that he doesn't like being taken out of his happy place. Lol, I li… Continue

sorry i haven't gotten back to you in forever, i've been so busy with the holidays and all (: that's awesome about bella, and i'm sure you and mac will do awesome like always haha. i've been riding our two new 2year old prospects that we partner own with my trainer. they're both hunter under saddle and awesome movers. i'm probably going to show one if not both of them this coming season which i'm super excited about. the only bad thing is that that will push gonzo to the back burner and give me almost no time to show him =\ ah it's tough, because i love him soooo much, but he isn't as good of a mover as the 2 new horses and he can't really compete with them. but these horses are going to be sold for profit so we can get a little extra money, so i won't get attached to them. hopefully everything will work out and i'll still be able to show and keep gonzo.

yeah i'm trying to learn as much as i can about jumping, for college as well. i refuse to go to a college that doesn't have an equestrian team lol =P it's been going fairly well..my trainer is letting me do most of the hunt seat training on Gonzo and he's progressing really quickly! Baylee's also getting better and better, with working her a lot over the winter, our hope is that she'll come out really strong in the spring and be more consistent than she was this show season. Velvet's doing good too, i'm always teaching her something new whether it's jumping, cutting (attempting anyways lol) or anything else. my trainer's little nieces came out to the barn the other day and i gave them all pony rides on Vel, they were so excited! she's such a sweetheart and just walked along as if there weren't little kids climbing all over her and screaming and luaghing. she's a natural babysitter (: how are Mac and Bella doing?

that sounds like fun! i've always wanted to jump, i've just never had a horse that could do it well which is why i just mess around with tiny jumps on velvet =P good luck with the trainer hunt! good AQHA trainers are definitly hard to find, but i'm sure you'll come in contact with some at the next show (: the weather has been semi-decent, for november in pennsylvania. it's been in the low 50's this past week, but it's supposed to snow almost everyday this coming week. yes, covered arenas are great! i wouldn't be able to ride for like 8 months out of the year if my barn didn't have an indoor arena lol. it's not heated, so it's still pretty cold in there when it's below zero out but hey, it's better than riding outside in the snow (:

lol yeah gonzo is too much of a big baby to let me put a blanket on him so i just have to deal with him getting fuzzy in the winter. my trainer is down at the aqha world sale in oklahoma right now, looking to buy some new 2 year olds that he'll train and let me help train, and then sell them come spring. so that should be fun, i lovee the challenge of working with 2 year olds, and green horses in general (:

that's goood, sounds like you're having fun in your new place (: i've been pretty good too, not much new has been going on here. i'm headed out to ride in a little bit...in the SNOW! can you believe it, october 29th and it's already snowing in stupid pennsylvania haha =( it's probably nice and warm in california, right? lol ohh well. this winter is gonna be a huge training winter because we're working for me to show Baylee at Congress next year, and also working for me to show Gonzo in AQHA hunt seat classes, but not at Congress. he's way too much of a scaredy cat to go there haha.

yeah I LOVE jumping!! at first I was scared of it 2, but now I'm pretty used 2 it. some of the excersizes i do are: going over the jump then halting and turning towards the jump and then jumping it again. we usually do this abonch of times. its helps because the horse i ride is really fast and sometimes doesnt listen that well, so doing this helps her listen better. another 1 is basically doing the same thing, except jumping at a diagonel. then we also justdo some different jumps as a warmup before doing a whole course

ohh cool, tell me how it went!! well i'll probably be working on flatwork and jumping mostly. but sometimes when we're jumping my instructor does these excersizes with us that really help
