The most dangerous Sport

okay, so, my friend and I have been having a debate on wether Horse Back Riding or Cheerleading is the most dangerous sport or which one is most dangerous. I know some other sport may be more dangerous than both of them, and you can say that. Which on though .Horse back riding or cheerleading? My friend is a cheerleader so she thinks cheerleading is, but I think horse back is.

Horse back riding for sure!!! Cheerleading can definitely be dangerous if you land wrongly but thats pretty much it, and its kind of their fault if they do something wrong. Horses are completely unpredictable and you never know what they will do and when. They have a mind of their own and we can't control that of course. No offense to your friend, but how is cheerleading really a sport?I mean, i guess i can kind of see how it takes skill but i cant see it as a sport.But, i agree with you, riding is def dangerous. And i know we aren't jockeys, but isn't horse racing like the most dangerous sport?

nah for sure cheerleading is a sport. thats like the whole thing how people think horseback riding isnt a sport. so i wouldnt go there ;) heheh

i think they both can be extremely dangerous, but i feel that in cheerleading its probably common to get hurt more often (being thrown into the air and other such things, falling down more than we fall off) but that riding has the potential to have much worse outcomes of our accidients (ie a 1500 lb animal falls and crushes you or you get thrown into a fence and what not). and just the fact that like the others said, that we are dealing with live, large animals with minds of their own and we have to put our complete trust into them. so i guess it just depends on how you look at it.

Horsebackriding: you can get kicked, stepped on, bucked off, reared off, smash into a jump, you need to be going fast most times.
Cheereading: you can fall in a stunt, get a twisted ankle,

well, I have more for horseback riding, so I think HBR (Horse Back Riding) is more dangerous.

I think it all depends on your opinions which seems to be what this discussion is revolving around. In my personal opinion, I would say that Horseback Riding is more dangerous. Due to the following factors...Horses are unpredictable which many people have already stated. They have their own minds, which means they can ctach you off guard easily which can put you and your horse in a dangeorus situation. We also can not control the course of their mind. Sure cheer leading is dangerous, but when you fail in a stunt, it is your own fault. Those who do not think horseback riding isnt a sport should come take a lesson from my insructor. Many sports are dangerous but how many sports involve a live animal which can be highly unpredictable? Disaster can happen in seconds in the equine world. You and your friend may be having conflicts though because if you dont know what its like to be a cheer leader and she doesnt know what its like to ride, you both will probably defend your sport (obviously) which is what I would do. Take her to a lesson and show her how hard it is.

ok so i would say cheerleading is very dangerous and so is horse back riding. I am a cheerleader too and the stunts can get pretty bad. All you have to do is wobble and you could fall and hurt yourself really badly. With horseriding it can be dangeous too. But it sometimes depends on the horse you are riding. they are both dangerouse. I would probably say horse back riding is more dangerous but cheerleading is really close behind it tho.

Well both sports are very dangerous. Although horseback riding I think of course is more dangerous. In cheerleading, you could fall and brake a bone or sprain an arm. In horseback riding, you could fall off and be trampled by 2,000 pound horses! Horses have so much power over us that one swift move could cause you to be paralyzed for the rest of your life! 2 jockeys die on the racetrack every year in north america...I dont hear about any girls die from cheerleading.

I have respect for every sport, but cheerleading is no where near as dangerous as horseback riding. It takes a great deal of athletic talent, flexibility and strength, and I will not deny that cheerleading is not easy. However, I wouldn't say it's as dangerous as horse back riding. Ever. I've ridden for years and my sister has cheered for years, both for school and club cheer. People do fall, it happens. But injuries sustained from that aren't usually serious. Horses can kill people. I personally have been thrown plenty of times, against fences, under horses, etc. I've gotten bruised ribs from being kicked in the chest (and that was just a sassy Shetland with no shoes!), I've had a galloping horse topple on top of me, and I've been bitten. I know a woman who was thrown and was in a body cast for four months with a broken back. Jumping/cross country accidents can end lives or paralyze you. People can get hurt in every sport, but horseback riding always has that risk of something terrible happening. Horses are almost 10 x's your weight, and they don't have to listen to you if they don't want. So my vote, horseback riding
