Does it bother you when people say horseback riding is easy?

Hey, does it only bother me, or do other people feel this way too? No one really understands what I see in riding and my friends say things like: whats the big deal? All you do is sit on a horse! I find this really annoying. What do you guys think about this?

i know EXACTLY how you feel! my parents are always complaining about how they are 'waisting' money on my lessons and they act like its not important. they are completely oblivious when it comes to horses and think that going to shows is a waist of time too.

Oh my god that totally pisses me off!!!!!! I had a friend who said that horseback riding wasn't considered a sport because all you did was sit there! We got into this huge fight because I was not going to let her say something like that about my fave sport!!!!!!!!! Sometimes I wish I could put people on a horse and figure out themselves how hard horseback riding is!!!!!!!

I hate it when people say horse back riding is easy or that it isnt a sport but my mom at least thinks it is kool becuase whenshe was my age she used to ride she quit though ppl in my school have no idea how hard it is or the body strength you need people just dont get it

EXACTLY! people dont realize that you need alot of strength to ride. and its funny, to me at least, that some cheerleaders in my school think that cheerleading is a sport and riding isn't. I mean obviously you need alot of strength to cheer and do flips and such, but they shouldnt say horse back riding isnt a sport. sometimes i just want to punch them [x

i kno how u feel the cheerleadrs in my school r the samee way one guy acually came up to me while i was talking about my lesson with my bff and he wa like it isnt even a sport its soo easy so i got rlly angry rlly quickly and i said rlly u think its not a sport u think its easy do u have any idea how much strength and energy it takes u need to earn posture and there are an incredible amount of rules i would rlly like to see u ride a horse id laugh as u irritate the horse and fall off u dont believe me come to the stables after schoo with me try riding then youll see
he was kind if freaked since i was yelling at him and i had my friends who also ride around me we sort of form like a group or a clique and i dont kno why but im apparantly there queen bee i didnt ask to be but i think it is because i am the most involced anyways he got kinda scared and ran off i think i got the message across though lol

Actually, no one has ever said that to me. I guess they know it must not be too easy- b/c i'm at the barn for around 10 hours a week! People have said it sounded like a lot of work.

But, If they didn't think horseback riding was a sport, man! I would be so pissed.

they don't understand it. and they don't like that i'll sometimes choose it over them, but, they don't think it sounds easy lol

it bothers me because if you truely know how to ride, you know that its not an easy sport. I personally HATE it when people do this.

Yeha I know what you mean. My friends that don't ride get mad when I talk about my horse, or even horses. Then they say things like "oh its easy all you do is sit there" yet when I tell her to go "sit" on my horse she says. When I ask her why she says she doesn't like horses. it just gets me really anoyed!
